DESCRIPTION:
Who are nonprofit leaders truly accountable to? Boards and donors, of course—but what about the people we serve? How can we meaningfully incorporate their lived experiences into shaping our organizations’ direction? This interactive session will explore the value of centering client voices in strategic decision-making.
Participants will engage in hands-on activities that challenge them to address real-world issues through the lens of those they serve. By the end of the session, attendees will understand how community engagement leads to stronger strategy and more effective fundraising—and will leave with practical tools to implement this approach within their organizations.
WHO SHOULD JOIN:
This Nonprofit Cafe session is ideal for program and development staff, executive directors, and board members. All nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers are encouraged to attend.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
After a dozen years as an executive director, seeing her organization through programmatic transformations and a large capital campaign, Erica Coyle took the plunge into opening her own consultancy, Elevation Strategies. Today, she supports nonprofits on all of their organizational development needs, from strategic plans and decision-making tools, to better including and understanding the viewpoints of those they serve. Elevation Strategies exists to help organizations root their work in community and build a team of ambassadors when doing so.
