Community Giving

Community giving initiatives empower groups and individuals to donate time or money and focus their giving on a particular cause. This focused giving amplifies the impact and helps create awareness. One Valley hosts two community giving initiatives: Women Who Wine and 100 Strong giving circles. What is your big idea for our valley? We can help.

History of Women Who Wine

Women Who Wine was founded in Bozeman in June 2007 by local business owner Babs Noelle as a way to engage women to participate in community giving. Women Who Wine began as a monthly meetup with attendees bringing an appetizer or bottle of wine, plus $5 to donate to the host’s chosen nonprofit. Today, it has become a leader in social giving in the Bozeman community.

Grant Making Impact

Since its founding in 2007, Women Who Wine Bozeman has raised over $70,000 for over 70 Gallatin Valley nonprofit organizations. Women Who Wine partnered with One Valley Community Foundation in 2015 to make giving to our area nonprofits even easier by helping to pool donations, providing tax receipts, and managing assets.

Being a featured nonprofit in Women Who Wine was such an amazing boost for Roots Family Collaborative! Women Who Wine helped us spread the word about what we do further and wider, allowing us to reach more new families, and the donation that came with being featured was the seed money we needed to promote our growing Moms Like Me community storytelling event.

History of 100 Strong

Founded in 2019, 100 Strong Gallatin Valley harnesses the creative and charitable energy of local women to support and improve the lives of women and children in our communities. Projects are chosen by members with each member voting for a local organization to receive a monetary gift generated by these funds.

Grant Making Impact

In its first year, 100 Strong granted a total of $40,000. Recipients included HAVEN, Bridgercare, Big Sky Youth Empowerment, and Prospera Business Network and the Montana Women’s Business Center Program. Each nonprofit received a $10,000 gift for capital projects.

The spaces we live in have such an impact on our emotional well-being. The grant made by 100 Strong helped HAVEN provide a more welcoming space for the survivors of domestic violence who stay at our shelter by providing the funds to install new flooring that is bright and easy to clean. We are so grateful to see such a strong group of female philanthropists coming together to leverage their collective power for good in our community.
