Understanding Donor Advised Funds, Endowments, and the METC

  • Bozeman Public Library Community Room 626 East Main Street Bozeman, MT, 59715 United States (map)

DESCRIPTION:

Join One Valley Community Foundation for an engaging and practical learning session designed for nonprofit staff and board members who want to better understand today’s charitable giving tools. This event will explore donor advised funds (DAFs), endowments, and the Montana Endowment Tax Credit (METC). We will share how these charitable giving tools can support long-term sustainability, deepen donor relationships, and help advance your organization’s mission.

You’ll hear from three perspectives:

  • Bridget Wilkinson, One Valley’s President & CEO, will provide an overview of these tools, what they mean for your organization, and how community foundations, like One Valley, support local philanthropy.

  • Justin Barth, Gallatin Valley Land Trust's Director of Development, will share real-world insights and lessons learned from working with donors who use DAFs, endowments, and the METC.

  • A One Valley fundholder will offer a donor’s perspective on why they chose to give through a donor advised fund and what they wish organizations knew about stewarding fundholders.

At the end of the presentations, we will have a facilitated conversation with the speakers and a workshop to hear from participants about how you would like to be better connected to fundholders and philanthropists.

WHO SHOULD JOIN:

All Gallatin County nonprofit staff and board members are welcome! This session will be especially beneficial to nonprofit Executive Directors, Directors of Development, and board members.
