BoardLaunch

BoardLaunch is a four-part training designed to prepare board members for service and set them up to be rockstar leaders. BoardLaunch is ideal for anyone who currently serves on a board of directors or who is thinking about service. This series will cover five main topics related to board service.

Connection to Cause

You can be a good board member, but you can’t be a GREAT board member, if you don’t care about the mission of the nonprofit board you serve on. Learn more about how this critical aspect of board service impacts how you serve as an effective ambassador for the organization you serve!

Board Operations

There is an adage that “the board work is not done at the board meeting; it’s done via board committees”! Learn more about how to create engaging, actionable board meetings, as well as how to delegate key board governance work to board committees.

Board and Board Member Responsibilities

The board – and board members, have shared and separate duties to ensure mission delivery for your organization. Learn about the board’s collective role, and board member’s individual roles, in not only ensuring good governance, but supporting the Executive Director.

Your Role in Board Composition and Development

While the Governance Committee is responsible for the “board path”, each board member is responsible for contributing to the cultural health of the organization. Each board member has a unique network, which should be tapped for potential board members. You’ll learn more about how to have conversations with your peers as to “what makes their heart sing”, as well as your role in continuing board education.

The Board’s Role – and YOUR Role – in Fundraising!

The board is responsible for ensuring that your nonprofit has the financial resources to deliver on your mission. What’s that code for? Fundraising! Raising money isn’t just your staff’s job, it’s the role of every board member. You’ll come away with a better understanding as to your particular role in raising funds for your cause, as well as stories to connect you with potential donors.

For someone who really wants to get more involved in my community at a high level, BoardLaunch really opened my eyes to what is possible and taught me a lot of things that should be considered when getting involved in a board.
